Sun Netra 240 and 440 Servers
Date: 10/24/2007
Sun Netra 240 and 440 Servers are the backbone of the Veraz Control Switch architecture. These industrial duty, high performance servers provide the next-generation processing power needed to service the real-time demands of high volume traffic. Since the initial activation of the Veraz next generation switch in May 2006, Sirius has doubled the Sun Server capacity, thereby quadrupling the processing power of the switch. For instance, the Sun CCP servers (Call Control Processors) have the capability to now process 1.2 million calls per hour.
Veraz Expansion
Date: 01/17/2008
The Sirius next generation Veraz Control Switch has been expanded with an additional IGate 4000 Pro Media Gateway. Each IGate can have up to 10,000 ports. The latest expansion is built for redundant STM-1's and OC-3's, and DS-3's, terminated directly the the IGate.
DMS 250/300
Date: 10/24/2007
These are typical line ups of Nortel DMS digital trunk frames. Each line up can have multiple trunk frames, and each trunk frame has two DTC's. A DTC has either 20 T1's or 16 E1's, so each frame has 960 trunks in either T1 or E1 configuration and can support SS-7, C-7, ISDN, MF, DTMF, or R2 signaling.
DC Power Plant Rectifiers
Date: 10/24/2007
Nortel Helios 200 amp rectifiers convert 480 volt AC 3-phase power to 48 volt DC power. Additionally, One Wilshire AC power is backed up by generator and automatic transfer switch control in the event of commercial power outage, ensuring uninterrupted power to all mission critical infrastructure.
DMS DTC's
Date: 10/24/2007
Nortel DMS 250/300 DTC's are configurable for T1 or E1, and can support SS7, C7, PRI ISDN, MF, DTMF, R2, and other formats. Sirius switch technicians are certified on the Nortel DMS 250/300, having received training from Nortel. Sirius switch technicians have an average of 10+ years working on the Nortel DMS 250/300.
Colocation
Date: 10/24/2007
The Sirius Telecom One Wilshire colocation site has 8,000 square feet. Clients can choose 24 hour secure access cages and cabinets. All Sirius facilities are staffed 24 x 7 and offer remote hands so that our technicians can perform the same functions as though each client has their own technical staff on site. International PTT's maintain cable POP's and VOIP hubs in the Sirius colo site. Also located in the Sirius colo site are domestic telecom providers housing Sansay and Nextone Session Border Controllers, muxes and transport gear. Enterprise providers also utilize the Sirius colo site as their home port for a myriad of uses such as fax and forward, call center and predictive dialing services, and hosted server applications.
Monitors

Monitors - the eyes of the systems. When there is activity the monitors come to life. When they are asleep, it means all is well!
Ethernet Cross Connects
Date: 10/24/2007
Ethernet 10/100 BaseT cross connects with dual DSX positions allow for monitoring in both directions (near end and far end, or line and drop).
OC-48 to DS-3 Fiber Terminal
Date: 10/24/2007
This is a backside view of a typical OC-48 fiber terminal, where the fiber optic input is multiplexed down to the DS-3 level. Note that each DS-3 (28 T1's) on each coaxial pair of cables is hand sewn, an art of installation which has become increasingly rare. Sirius staffs its own technical installation team well versed in the beauty of proper installation technique. It only works as well as it is installed.

Absolyte GNB Batteries
Date: 10/24/2007
Absolyte GNB gell cell batteries provide the ultimate power backup and work to provide smooth 48 volt DC power. Each string of 24 batteries at 2 volts DC each, are parallel connected to additional strings to increase total up-time.
Test Equipment
Date: 10/24/2007
Cutting edge applications and their solutions require a broad spectrum of testing capabilities and experience. Sirius Telecom operates a full range of high-end test gear such as the Sage T-1 Signaling Emulator and T-Berd 224 DS-1 drop and insert tester pictured here. Other test equipment includes the INET SS-7 and C-7 signaling testers, T-Berd 310 DS-3 tester, STM-1, OC-3, E-1, DS-0, and other common signaling and network test sets.
SS-7 and C-7 Signaling Links
Date: 10/24/2007
SS-7 and C-7 Signaling Links form the foundation of high-speed, out-of-band signaling capabilities. These links pictured utilize SS7 and C7 links, serviced by V.35 and CSU/DSU hardware links.
Telect DSX's
Date: 10/24/2007
Telect DSX's are the backbone of digital cross connect systems. Each DSX position allows technical support staff the ability to test circuits in the backward and forward directions, thereby enhancing the ability to isolate and troubleshoot network issues.
Sirius uses the rear-cross connect Telect DSX's because they present a much neater and cleaner installation than front-cross connect DSX's. Initially, circuits are tested and brought into service using patch cords on the front of the DSX. When circuits are ready for online service, Sirius technicians install the permanent cross connects on the back side where the cross connect cabling is neatly run in cable rings. The Telect DSX is widely used throughout the world and is the standard of Sirius Telecom.
Cisco AS5300's
Date: 10/24/2007
The Cisco AS5300 gateway has been the workhorse of VOIP gateways for years, and continues provide reliable and flexible VOIP to TDM service.
Not pictured here is Sirius Telecom's array of Cisco AS5400 HPX gateways, which can each handle up to a full DS-3 of VOIP traffic.
DC Power Run
Date: 03/09/2006
These cables deliver 48 volt DC power to the Veraz Control Switch and IGate 4000 Pro's. There are two feeds per breaker panel (A and B) for redundancy. Notice the hand stitching of the cables and attention to detail.
Adding More DC Power
Date: 01/01/2007
More DC power is being added to accommodate growth to the Veraz Control Switch. Before the new power cables can be run from the BDF (battery distribution frame), the preliminary work of lacing in the waxed cord must be completed. Then as the new cables are laid down, they are sewed by hand so that all cables are neatly tied down. No cable cross-overs are allowed!
Sewed by Hand
Date: 01/01/2007
As more DC power is installed, each power run is sewed by hand. This is almost a lost art, but is a much neater and cleaner way and uses no tie wraps. It takes a lot more time but the end result is a beautiful installation. Sirius employs two full time electricians who are masters!
